ADAMANTIS
“Reforged”
Album Review by Iron Mathew
9/10

Adamantis are a power metal band from the USA formed in 2016, releasing two albums to date – ‘Far Flung Realm’ (2020) and ‘Reforged’ (2025).
Featuring eight songs across a hard hitting forty two energy-driven minutes, ‘Reforged’ is urgent, potent and powerful, Adamantis – vocalist Jeff Stark, guitarists Javier Estrada and Vance Simmons, bassist Alex Scofield, and drummer Evgeny Gromovoy – are on fucking fire, roaring into life at astonishing speed courtesy of ‘Ride For Ruin’ featuring guest guitarist Jeff Loomis (Nevermore, ex Arch Enemy). The band are at full throttle here, shuddering the ground with so much force that the stability of the entire planet is under threat – Adamantis threatening everyone on Earth with a cataclysmic shift in the planets orbit! A sensational head turning opening gambit, the band forge ahead with the mid paced heavy/power metal thunder of ‘Steelclad’, the muscular style of American metal rising to the surface as ‘Reforged’ maintains the incredible intensity it began with.
An opening brace to clear the cobwebs and clogged senses of listeners everywhere, ‘Funeral For A King’ displays a mighty anthemic stance as it gets underway, the band progressing to a hymn-like swagger as the instrumental’s one and a half minute run time comes to an end and the title song ‘Reforged’ charges into sight like a dog with a bad case of the zoomies! The pace is electrifying here, the band pounding the ground with a little o’ the European style of power metal, listeners, fans and followers worldwide glued to ‘Reforged’ (the album) – its attraction shining brighter than a thousand suns as ‘The Sailor On The Seas Of Fate’ sees, or rather hears the band dropping a gear to adopt a mid paced thunder stomping furore! The abrasiveness here is in stark contrast to the silky smooth power metal of the album so far, Adamantis maintaining the rougher edge as a bolder, more bombastic nature accompanies ‘The Sailor On The Seas Of Fate’ as it strides on to a conclusion.
And a huge level of majesty erupts from the album as ‘Time Of Contempt’ marches in on the crest of massively melodious wave, Adamantis striding tall and very proud through the epic and glory genres of metal music to display a glorious mix of legendary anthemic metallers Manowar and Sabaton. The variety on offer since ‘Reforged’ (the album) began has been very wide, the bands audience even wider – ‘Gates Of Miklagard’ maintaining the previous songs majestic stance! For about the first minute or so anyway, Adamantis roughing up their sound again to bring a NWOBHM guitar tone to the fore along with the iconic traditional metal gallop – the bands root power metal sound taking a back seat for now! And at nearly eight minutes in length, ‘Gates Of Miklagard’ is the longest song on offer – the albums final song ‘The Fall Of Asterius’, a CD only bonus that returns all out pace to the fore. Adamantis are in their element here, the bands power metal roots taking centre stage as ‘The Fall Of Asterius’ hurtles on by to vigorously rock the heads of every listener, fan, follower, metaller and mosher one final time.
Overall, an energy driven gallop of power metal to traditional heavy metal and everything in-between, ‘Reforged’ is an infectious and addictive listen.
