Crazy Irish Metallers Indominus took time out of their busy schedule to sit and have a chat with Sommer at Metal Gods TV Headquarters, here’s what the guys had to say…

MG We heard that you guys have just played battle to the bands at SunFlower Fest in Belfast, how did you find that experience?

IN Yeah that was a fun night, they picked us out of 1000 bands to play which was really cool… how could we say no to that? It was cool to play with bands playing different genres of music, and have a bit of banter pretending to be a door man at a free event. We didn’t actually make anyone pay in of course, but anyone who stopped thought it was funny. We got a good reaction from the crowd too, a couple of the bar-men had also heard of us and came up from the other floor to see us. Simon and Logan even got free pints!

MG Do you find you put more into a performance when playing competitions?

IN For us, we give any show that we play our all. But when it comes to competitions we usually push ourselves that little bit further, adrenaline helps with that!

MG What do you have to take into consideration when entering competitions?

IN When it comes to competitions usually every band plays either a different genre of music, or different sub-genre to what your band does. Baring that in mind, we stick with what we do and pursue it to the best of our ability, whilst working to fine tune our stage show. Coming up to contests or festivals we would usually squeeze in more rehearsal and individual practice.

MG What was it like when you guys went to play in Malta?

IN Malta was pretty awesome. We played a good sized gig to a couple of hundred people, got a really good crowd reaction, and got to use some really kick-ass amps which was a blast. We stayed with 2 members of the band Martyrium, and we met some pretty cool people when we were there too. Hopefully we get to go back there soon!

MG Any stories from your trip there?

IN Quite a few actually. Our bassist Mark lost his wallet in a taxi, him and Logan (guitarist) spent a few hours one day trekking round the island trying to get it back, eventually they did though fortunately! Simon (guitar/vocals) met someone at the gig and spent one of the days hanging out with them. But by the time he made his way back to the house that we were staying in, no buses where running. So he had to pay 30 euros for a taxi, but by the time he got back it was 3am and his phone was dead, plus the house was locked, so he was trapped outside (with several beers in him). Fortunately a couple of nearby dogs started barking which woke someone in the house up, so eventually he got in. Lastly, the story of the green and blue beer. It’s a 4-hour flight to Malta so we needed something to pass the time, we ordered some beers and continuously dropped M&Ms into each other’s’ drinks for our own amusement.

MG 2016 we saw you guys release your EP ‘Legion Within,’ how has that been received by your fans?

IN Really well! it’s Indominus’ debut release and was recorded about 4 months into the band’s conception, so we’ve been pretty busy! It’s had a load of reviews which have all been positive, and has also been featured in Terrorizer Magazine. The title track was also included on their “Fear Candy” CD! Any time the songs are played live they usually spark a good reaction from the crowd.

MG Can we expect an album anytime soon?

IN Yep! We’ve been discussing plans for a new mini-album/EP, and have been working on some new tracks recently, a couple of them have been played live and it’s some of our heaviest material to date – we can’t wait to bring them to the studio. In total we have 3 new finished songs ready to go, so in terms of writing we’re pretty much half way there. The EP is currently un-named, but some of the song titles so far include “Ambivalence (Stood Still),” “Antagonist,” and “Pathway to Genocide.”

MG Outside of music how do you spend your leisure time?

IN Mark enjoys spending time with his wife and kids, and taking Bailey the hyper-dog out for a walk.

Simon is a gamer, and has a couple of solo projects he’s working on (Black Moon Aeon – Symphonic Death Metal and another project consisting of instrumental/soundtrack music).

Logan is at university and has a noise/grind project going with a couple of friends.

Nathan is a bit of a gym-junky, you can usually find him lifting all sorts of heavy objects in his back garden or constructing click-tracks.

MGWhat life lessons has music taught you?

IN If you’re passionate about something (not being biased here or anything heh heh…), always persevere and keep a positive mind-set. Don’t be afraid to go outside the box, continue to push yourself further and never become complacent.

MG Finally, what is next for Indominus?

IN We’re going to shoot our first music video pretty soon (which you may see on Scuzz…), we have some local shows coming up and are working on getting some international dates for next year. Lastly, working on our next release and perforating some ear drums.

MG Thanking for taking time out to talk to us today guys!

IN Thanks for having us!
