Tales of Mike is the sound of lived grief, heavy emotions, and deep connection. Founded by Michael “Mike” Heß (born 1972), this project is more than just music – it’s an inner journey, brought to life through epic heavy/doom metal.

The loss of his brother Markus became the starting point for something real: music as a vent, a mirror of a torn soul. In 2022, Mike began pouring his feelings into songs – dark, raw, and driven by an intense need to give voice to the unspoken.

With Gonzalo Civita (HelėH, Tribal) and Henrik Schaller, he found two companions who not only understand his vision but breathe life into it.

On August 9, 2023, they released their debut E.P. “Landscape of Sorrow” – a tribute to Markus, released on his birthday. The limited CD edition followed on January 4, 2024, marking the 14th anniversary of his passing – via Fetzner Death Records & Schattenpfade Support Circle.

The sound: heavy, melancholic, relentless. The lyrics: personal, vulnerable, deep. The intention: music that makes the inner self audible.

Currently, Mike, Gonzalo, and Henrik are working on their first full-length album “Human”, set to be released in 2025. The pre-release single “Human Masquerade” has been available since October 4, 2024 – a dark look behind the masks of humanity.

A new single “Abandoned” has just been released and is a dark journey into the consequences of selfish ambition. A song about the cracks that appear when others are left behind in the climb to the top, only to find nothing but emptiness in the end.
