PERFECT PLAN
“Heart Of A Lion”
Album Review by Iron Mathew
10/10

Perfect Plan are a melodic rock/AOR band from Sweden formed in 2014, releasing four alums to date – ‘All Rise’ (2018), ‘Time For A Miracle’ (2020), ‘Brace For Impact’ (2022), and ‘Heart Of A Lion’…
…emerging in 2025 featuring eleven new heavy hitting melodic rock songs across an even more melodic forty eight minutes. Influenced by the likes of Survivor, Foreigner, Europe and Whitesnake, the Swedish rockers are now carving out their own sound – a perfect balance of energy, unforgettable melodies and big sing a long-able, arena filling choruses! The new album roars into life with the title song ‘Heart Of A Lion’, the bands penchant for punchy, foot tapping riffs shining brighter than a thousand fucking suns – Perfect Plan executing perfectly, their perfect plan for pleasing a worldwide audience! A worldwide audience that’s been growing ever since the Swedish rockers rose to prominence in 2018, are smiling wider than ever before as ‘Heart Of A Lion’ (the album) roars on with the even more melodic ‘We Are Heroes’. Is there such a thing as too melodic? Not a fucking chance, ‘We Are Heroes’ boasting the biggest sound out of the first two songs, every arena and stadium fitting venues for this style of rock – Perfect Plan deserving to perform on the largest stages in the world.
A sensational brace to grab the attentions of everyone everywhere, ‘All Night’ maintains the punchy nature of the album so far, the band pounding the ground hard to wobble walls and shake buildings to their foundations, every listener, fan and follower hooked on every word, twang and thump oozing outta ‘Heart Of A Lion’ (the album) – ‘Turn Up Your Radio’ doing exactly what it says on the tin! ‘Cause I don’t know about you, I’ve turned the volume up twice since the album began, and if Perfect Plan were to appear on the radio, I for one would most definitely turn it up – regardless of where I am! Be it in the car, at home, work or the local mall, the radio would be turned up to maximum, it’s the least ‘Turn Up Your Radio’ deserves, ’cause the chorus break is so fucking sing-able…so come on everyone “Turn up your radio, Turn on the music in your heart, And just play the song that makes you stronger, Turn up your radio, Just see your worries fall apart, Show the voices in the back just what you got”. Simply stunning stuff from the Swedish five piece – ‘My Unsung Hero’ waltzing straight into balladry, the mellow atmosphere descending upon the album right now inviting every listener to raise lighters high in the air and sway gently from side to side, the voice of the bands lead singer Kent Hilli (T3NORS, Giant, and solo artist) able to switch seamlessly from a melodic rock roar to a soulful stroll in the blink of an eye.
And as the album reaches the half way mark, the intensity holding everyone’s attention is tighter than ever, Perfect Plan not letting go of anyone just yet – ‘Ready To Break’ resuming the up tempo, energy driven rock of earlier, the band searing hot right now as ‘Heart Of A Lion’ (the album) surges onto the shortlist for Rock Album Of The Year! And as the number one contender too, the Swedish rockers delivering the finest melodic rock come AOR I’ve heard so far this year – ‘Too Tough’ entering the fray with a decidedly eighties feel surrounding it. And when I say surrounding it, I mean the aura around ‘Too Tough’ is glowing brightly, the essence of eighties pop rock oozing outta the album right now – the infectious level rising higher than the sky along with the sing a long ability, for the band have once again delivered a top shelf in-concert sing along chorus. Simply outstanding stuff from a band out standing right in the heart of the melodic rock field, ‘Lady Mysterious’ reminding me of the sultry swagger of British rock icons Whitesnake – the sizzling, sassy vocals here uncannily similar to (the bands legendary singer) David Coverdale. Kudos Kent, kudos.
There’s just no stopping the band when they’re in this mood, Perfect Plan on a more determined roll than a four kilo round of Double Gloucester down Cooper’s Hill during the world-famous annual “Cooper’s Hill Cheese Rolling And Wake” event in Gloucestershire (UK) – the album marching on with the hard rocker ‘One Touch’. Well, I say hard rocker only because the ground is shaking underneath the bands feet here, Perfect Plan punching harder than at any other time on ‘Heart Of A Lion’ (the album) so far, yet the immense melodious streak running right through the middle of the album remains fully intact! Have the band delivered their best work to date? You better believe they have, a more abrasive style of rock storming forth with ‘Danger On The Loose’ emanating a (fellow Swedish rockers) Europe swagger – the kinda swagger that was prevalent on the bands 1991 album ‘Prisoners In Paradise’. A fantastic forty plus minutes of rock comes to a close with ‘At Your Stone’, the bands root AOR infused melodic rock sound standing tall and very proud, head and shoulders above many of their contemporaries too as Perfect Plan sign off the bands fourth album in sensational style.
Overall, a superb slab of melodic rock from a band hot to trot, ‘Heart Of A Lion’ roars loud with an immense infectious level.
