Broken Lingerie E.P. Review: “Lying Words”

E.P. Review By Iron Mathew

Broken CD

Broken Lingerie are a rock band from Spain formed in 2012 who released their debut E.P. ‘Lying Words’ in 2014.

The all female outfit from Spain play hard rock and play it hard. Opening with ‘Crucified Decay’, a cross between UK legends Girlschool and the NWOBHM sound, ‘Crucified Decay’ is a foot stomper of a rock song, with good vocals, good guitar work and an addictive rhythm. ‘Mile 69’ takes on a sleaze rock vibe, maybe more to do with the song title itself…but that said, ‘Mile 69’ is a buzzing slab of hard rock with razor sharp guitars.

With a guitar sound straight from the NWOBHM era and a little touch of punk, the title song ‘Lying Words’ sounds raw, fresh and full of energy. A cracking guitar solo to boot and ‘Lying Words’ shows progress from the previous two songs. This continues with ‘Confessions’…all buzzing guitars and galloping rhythms with the strongest vocal delivery on the album. Broken Lingerie play hard rock with passion and energy, but that alone is not enough for continued success. You need to be able to adapt, change and flex your sound or it all becomes to “the same”. ‘Lose Control’ ends the E.P. in a slower foot stomping style, very heavy and with a higher pitched vocal delivery. ‘Lose Control’ does show that the band are willing to flex their sound a little.

Overall, a short collection of promising hard rock with guitars that buzz and rhythms that are infectious and memorable. Good clean vocals too.
