LOST RELICS
“Now We’re Even”
E.P. Review by Piers Renfree
7/10
Formed in 2019, Colorado stoner metal band “Lost Relics” (Jason O James – bass & vocals, Jess Ellis – guitar and vocals, Marc Broods – guitar and Greg Mason – drums) have played festivals in Colorado and opened up for national acts. This E.P. is their second release following their self-titled debut E.P. in February 2019.
Fans of Cathedral and Orange Goblin should lap up the riffs which are heavy enough to level a city and the raw production gives a nice, live feel.
The vocals are the low point for me, there’s no attempt at singing here; the lyrics are just shouted at you over the slow, grinding musical onslaught. A bit of a range on the vocals wouldn’t go amiss in my opinion.
This is not a bad record, but I feel that this will have a limited audience, due to the shouting vocals.
