BREAKDOWN BKN E.P. Review: “Divide And Konquer”

BREAKDOWN BKN
“Divide And Konquer”
E.P. Review by Iron Mathew

10/10

BreaKdowN BKN are a German based thrash metal band born in Brazil at the end of the nineties, releasing to date one album ‘Time To Kill’ (2007), and two E.P.’s – ‘Disorder & Unprogress’ (2008) and ‘Divide & Konquer’…

…emerging in 2024 featuring five songs across a fierce twenty minutes! Not to mention ferocious too, the band – Leo (guitar and vocals), Edu (drums) and Tati Schmidt (bass), firing on all cylinders to deliver menace and aggression in abundance! If you’re a fan of bands such as Forbidden, Heathen and Slayer, you’re gonna love BreaKdowN BKN, the band opening the E.P. with the tension fuelled one and a half minute intro ‘The Tentacles Of Hate’, building to a crescendo ready for the title song ‘Divide And Konquer’ to come roaring forward!

And when I say roaring, the band roar louder than lions, tigers and bears – ‘Divide And Konquer’ (the song) a searing rampage of all out brutality! The pace here is incredible, BreaKdowN BKN hurtling across the land to leave only devastation in their wake, towns and cities obliterated by the bands immensely savage fury! A storming start by the three-piece thrash metal band only gets fiercer with the sub three minute ‘War’ entering the fray to unleash total ferocity on every listener, fan and follower around the world! And the pace too, quicker than ‘Divide And Konquer’ (the song). What an aggression fuelled aural ambush the first two songs have been, I just wonder how aggressive the second two are gonna be!

Well no need to wonder for too long, BreaKdowN BKN riding a thrash metal tsunami with consummate ease, ‘Rise From The Dead’ breezing into view like a fucking tornado – a thrash metal tornado! Wiping out everything stood in its way, ‘Rise From The Dead’ is a furious force of nature that’s gonna knock every listener through the floor to the basement and below. How far below is anyone’s guess, but I reckon it could be as far down as hell – the band after all, are as hot as hell delivering a punishing sonic avalanche of terrifying thrash! Terrifying for mere mortals only though, for us diehard thrashers with thicker skins are fucking loving this, the E.P.’s final song ‘Angels Don’t Kill’ maintaining the all conquering intensity that began twenty minutes ago – that’s twenty minutes of uncompromising and fiery thrash metal that deserves to be listened to time and time again! So that’s all folks – I’m off to listen again.

Overall, a ferocity laden, aggression fuelled thrash metal onslaught with a tonne of menace and terrific head bang ability.
