‘ Space Invader’

Review By Cliff Scowen

A lots happened in the Frehley camp since his critically acclaimed ‘Anomaly’, more alcohol/substance abuse, two cancellations at successive Hard Rock Hell, public slanging matches with former Kiss band members and finally Kiss’s induction into The Rock n Roll Hall of Fame.

Ace over the years has burnt a lot of bridges, more so with the fans than anyone else.
But all is forgiven because although his new album ‘Space Invader’ isn’t as good as his ’78 debut solo, it comes very close.

There’s always been something about Frehley, his couldn’t give a fuck attitude, his personality, that swagger when he plays his guitar that I love.
So to his new album ‘Space Invader‘ big guitar sound, loud and in your face and Frehleys voice sounding better than ever.

Openening track,  ‘Space Invader‘ gives you the feel of what to come throughout the album with big vocals and a monstrous lead solo.

‘Gimme A Feeling’ already known to fans was released as a single before the album release.

Stand out tracks for me were ‘Immortal Pleasures‘ and ‘Past the Milky Way’ both with huge riffs and choruses.’Reckless’ is highly polished tune while seeing Ace poke fun at himself.

The cover of Steve Millers ‘The Joker’ sees Ace having fun with a blistering solo while still staying true to the original.
So let the haters hate, the knockers knock because I’m telling you Ace is back and in a big way.
