E.P. Review by Iron Mathew

8/10

All Sinners are a heavy metal band from the USA releasing their self titled debut E.P. in 2023…

…featuring four songs of heavy hitting heavy metal with a hard rock edge. The E.P. was released earlier this year, with the band now working on new material for a full length album – hopefully to be released later in the year. But for now – these four songs will have to keep us going until then. First song up is the head bangingly addictive ‘The Hunted’, displaying a mid paced and very heavy foot stomp. Infectious and catchy, ‘The Hunted’ is a sit up and take notice opener that draws you in to the bands sound.

A sound that is a little old school, a little modern, and a lot straight-up heavy metal! ‘Buried Alive’ is heavier than ‘The Hunted’, echoing Black Sabbath-like riffs mixed with an eighties Whitesnake feel. A strange mix you might say, but just take a listen and (hopefully) you’ll hear what I mean. With more energy than the (E.P.’s) first half, ‘Rise Up’ is up tempo and harder hitting, getting very close to the iconic “foot on the monitor” feel of traditional heavy metal. Although I will say, the guitar sound is definitely NWOBHM – a sound that is forty years and four and a half thousand miles away from the band!

But then that’s the influence British metal had on the world all those years ago, with Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Motorhead and Saxon ruling the world for years! And their legacy is still a massive influence on new bands today – just like All Sinners. The fourth and final song ‘Believer’, is the most melodic offering, portraying a brighter sound and an infectious level that may just attract some hard rockers to the bands soundscape.

Overall, a four song barrage of old school heavy metal with a high infectious level and tonnes of head bang ability.
