ANGER MACHINE
“TRAIL OF THE PERISHED”
Album Review by Piers Renfree

8/10

Anger Machine are a five piece metal band from the Netherlands. Founded in 2015, they released their debut E.P. “Unbreakable” in 2016 and started playing live shows in September of that year. In 2017, the band released a follow up single “Warpath”, which was produced by David Hazeleger. “Trail Of The Perished” is the first full length release from Anger Machine, whose current line-up consists of Remus Stingclu – Llead vocals, Thijmen den Hartigh – rhythm & lead guitar and backing vocals, Martijn de Jong – rhythm guitar, Merijn Kloostermanr – bass guitar and Corné Bos – drums. The band kept David Hazeleger as producer for “Trail Of The Perished” and are self-releasing the album.

The ten songs on the album last for just under thirty eight minutes. There are no extended intros in this album. Remus Stingclu uses gutteral death metal style growls and screams, whilst the guitars have a nice thrashy bite. Musically the band are a mix of thrash metal & groove metal, whilst adding trad metal solos into the mix. David Hazeleger is a fantastic choice for producer, as everything is crisp & clear, without loss of impact.

This record takes me back to my teenage years in the mid 90s, when I was getting into metal (much to my parents dismay) and my mate was introducing me to groups like Napalm Death, Entombed, Pantera & Megadeth. And just look at that artwork, you don’t need to have heard of the band to know that this is a metal album. This will definitely be getting more rotation with me.
