HRH are proud to announce the final, thunderously loud, line-up for HRH Doom Vs HRH Stoner Chapter II (at the O2 Academy, in Sheffield, between Saturday 30th September and Sunday 1st October 2017).
Joining the headliners are Saint Vitus: a major pioneering American doom metal band. Formed in Los Angeles in 1979 as Tyrant, the outfit soon changed their name to Saint Vitus, homaging Black Sabbath’s track ‘St. Vitus’ Dance’. Influenced by both Sabbath and Black Flag, Saint Vitus actually toured with Black Flag during the 1980s. Saint Vitus loom large in doom metal as they helped found and define the genre, and have also influenced its descendants and spin-offs (like sludge). Welcome to this supremely loud party!
St Vitus join a darkly-inspiring and rousing line-up of doom and stoner talent, already announced and confirmed for the event, including the other headliners My Dying Bride and Orange Goblin. As metal maniacs will know, My Dying Bride have also been hugely influential on the doom metal scene and been described as “the voice of the hopeless and broken, combining haunting sounds with crushing misery and melancholy”. Recently signed to Nuclear Blast Records, My Dying Bride will be departing their dank catacombs to haunt the stage at HRH DVS Chapter II. Meanwhile Orange Goblin (firm favourites of previous HRH events) will be bringing their hugely popular “beer-soaked, blue-collar heavy metal music” back to appreciative fans and crowds.
The headliners join a VERY VERY loud array of serious doom, stoner, and metal talent, including: Truckfighters, Kadavar, Black Moth, Slabdragger, Deville, Ten Foot Wizard, Steak, Boss Keloid, Serpent Venom, Pist, Gurt, Regulus, Hogslayer, King Goat, Barbarian Hermit, Blind Haze, Bast, Witch Tripper, Kurokuma, and Grave Lines.
Building on the model and expertise honed at Camp HRH in North Wales, HRH is successfully bringing the same high standards of rock, residence, community, experience (and of course shenanigans) to Sheffield at the 02 Academy site in Sheffield as part of their City Experience strategy.
As with all HRH events, tickets are selling fast: as we go to press, only 86 weekend passes are left! Book early to avoid disappointment and missing out on Europe’s flagship celebration of Doom and Stoner Rock.
