Six years after their farewell, Finnish metallers KIUAS recently surprised their followers by sharing a mysterious video on their official Facebook page, along with the message “From the ashes of KIUAS… A new age begins”.

Now, its meaning has finally been revealed through a new statement, in which they announce an interesting new project called DAIMONIC. The Facebook post says:

“A new power has risen!!

So, as promised, there’s some splendid news for KIUAS fans:

Since the end of KIUAS in 2013, a long, hard and careful process of intense songwriting, planning, and the gathering of just the right members and refining the thematic and visual concept for a new extraordinary group has taken place.

The result is a new band called DAIMONIC which has evolved through several line-up changes to it’s current form, which is quite interesting indeed.

Perhaps the biggest surprise will be that besides carrying the musical legacy of KIUAS with a songwriting touch that KIUAS fans will recognize and delivering the likewise familiar guitar sound, Mikko Salovaara has taken on a new challenge of handling the lead vocals as well. As that might hastily be judged by some as a one man’s narcissistic trip, however, this exciting yet logical move stands firmly supported by all members of house KIUAS and was originally suggested by the KIUAS management team when the band was nearing its end.
(ok, there’s a touch of healthy narcissism involved…but hey, you can’t be a performing artist otherwise!)

The other members of DAIMONIC are all top-notch musicians with many years of experience from other professional touring and recording bands. From KIUAS the only other remaining member besides Mikko is elven keyboard wizard Jari Pailamo who needs no introduction. Bass duties are handled by Finnish folk-metal icon Ville Sorvali, frontman of MOONSORROW. An ultra-heavy guitar assault is secured by the Khal Drogo of Finland Aki Holma, and the electric beast Timo Aspiala will provide the backbone with furious yet precise drumming.

As you’re already desperate to hear what DAIMONIC actually sounds like, you’re in luck:

What in the future will happen under the name KIUAS only Crom knows. However, for those craving for new ear candy, tired of trying to google “similar” artists, and hopelessly craving for a true meaning and purpose to your life – you have now been shown the way.”

Recorded and mixed by sonic multitalent Mikko Herranen at Noise Floor Studios and mastered by Samu Bäckström“Might Concealed” is a fast and intense modern metal masterpiece that combines extreme metal acrobatics, melodic vocals with a catchy chorus, symphonic elements, and the perfect blend of technical yet raunchy and raw old school-metal musicianship. It serves as the perfect introduction to world of DAIMONIC.

Thematically the song mainly describes two sides of the human experience: on one hand the never-ending struggle and suffering, on the other the joy, wisdom, and strength that can be found every moment from the endless well of might within us all – always within our grasp yet “concealed” deep in the endless levels of consciousness.

The song is also available on all popular streaming platforms.

KIUAS fourth and final album Lustdriven was released in 2010 through Spinefarm Records. The band decided to split in 2013 due to the difficulty of finding a suitable frontman after Ilja Jalkanen‘s departure, and an unsuccessful attempt to continue with Asim Searah on vocals. A farewell show with the original line up took place at Nosturi (Helsinki) in October 2013.

Aside from KIUAS, the band members of DAIMONIC are related to other well-known Finnish bands such as LEVERAGEMOONSORROWKING COMPANYTWILIGHT GUARDIANSMETAL DE FACTOICONOFEAR and MACDETH.
