KRAANIUM
“SLAMCHOSIS”
Album Review by Metal Gods TV
8/10
Let’s be clear in the first sentence of this review that this is by far the most sickening release to come out this year and certainly won’t be topped. These Death Metal legends have created 10 tracks of pure filth, disgust and profanity. Kraanium have been unleashing their brutal style of music for almost twenty years now, with the addition of their new album “Slamchosis” it is very clear that the band have no intentions of slowing down anytime soon. This album is everything that you would expect Kraanium to produce. It is violently disgusting and absolutely crawling with gore from the beginning to the end.
The opening track begins with the famous line about butchering people by the American serial killer Edward Kemper. And, it’s at this point where Kraanium don’t hang around to do some butchering of their very own. This album opens in exactly the way you would expect it to with a series of blast beats, beatdown slams and gargling pig squeal vocals. The second track “Blob Of Inhuman Metamorphic Transfusion” is slightly different, quick off the mark and proves that Kraanium can mix up their brutal style of music. This track is a mid-tempo piece that is filled with heavy grooves and packed full of breakdowns throughout. The forth track “Forced Rectal Exhumation” is a lot more intense with some chaotically dizzy riffs and grooves and builds in intensity as it goes on giving the listener exactly what they want from listening to a Kraanium album. The following and title track “Slamchosis” is an instant sledge hammer to face and only lasts for one minute and thirty seconds. This track continues the typical Kraanium style subject matter of talking about murder and includes samples from the Netflix Original series “Mindhunter” which is a very fitting choice for the band to make considering the entire show is about interviewing serial killers.
The closing track “Putrescent Indulgence” is one of the most enjoyable on the entire album because it’s much more creative than any of the previous. However, some die-hard fans of Kraanium may not enjoy this track so much. One thing that it does prove is that the band can diversify their sound and be stylistically creative whilst remaining within the “Slam” genre.
If you are a fan of seriously heavy and stomach-churning “Death Metal” then “Slamchosis” is without a doubt the album for you. There are points during this album that seem a little bit repeated but nonetheless you won’t be disappointed. Kraanium remain as one of the most under rated bands of this genre and “Slamchosis” further proves that band have so much more to unleash.
