Millennial Reign are a melodic power metal band from the USA formed in 2010 by guitarist Dave Harvey. The bands self titled debut album was released in 2012, with the follow up ‘Carry The Fire’ emerging in 2015. Featuring a number of line-up changes, ‘Carry The Fire’ established Millennial Reign as a force in the power metal genre, with the band going on to tour with Stryper, on their “To Hell With The Devil 30th anniversary tour”. The bands third album ‘The Great Divide’, was released in 2018, featuring new vocalist Travis Wills.

Recruited as an interim (fill in) vocalist to complete ‘The Great Divide’ and perform at shows with HammerFall, Flotsam And Jetsam, and Stryper, Travis left when all commitments were fulfilled. The band then began auditioning for a replacement, recruiting Tiffany Galchutt as the bands permanent singer. Tiffany performed at shows supporting Accept, Y&T, and Stryper.

The first release from this new line-up, is the limited edition E.P. ‘Carry The Fire Again’, featuring remixed and remastered versions of four songs from the bands 2015 album ‘Carry The Fire’, complete with new vocal tracks by Tiffany. The four songs are ‘Way Up High’, ‘Millennial Reign’, ‘Innocent Cry’, and ‘Men Stand Alone’, featuring identical artwork as the earlier album, albeit now a blue colour – looking less like a fire and more like an ice age.

Tiffany adds a new dimension to the band, not just because of the different gender, but because her soaring vocals are taking the band in a more symphonic power metal direction. The pace and feel of all four songs are similar to the originals, and will be instantly recognisable to the bands legion of followers. But for any newcomers to Millennial Reign, ‘Way Up High’ is a punchy heavy hitter with a melodic power metal swagger. The infectious rhythm will get heads nodding and feet tapping, with involuntary chants of “way up high” emerging from the lips of every listener everywhere.

The self titled ‘Millennial Reign’ is a much more mid tempo march, loaded with a chopping rhythm and a more heavy metal feel than the power metal of the previous song. The chopping rhythm continues with ‘Innocent Cry’, the pace slowed down to a majestic stroll. Elements of the symphonic style of metal ride high across a back drop of beefy power metal. Galloping metal comes to the fore as ‘Men Stand Alone’ blazes into life and storms on, all suave and sophisticated, and proving just how good the American style of power metal is.

Overall, a heavy hitting and infectious four song romp, bridging the gap between a line-up change, the bands ten year anniversary, and a new album.
