Mötley Crüe are a hard rock band from the USA, formed in 1981 by Nikki Sixx (bass), Tommy Lee (drums), Mick Mars (guitar), and Vince Neil (vocals). The band have released nine studio albums, numerous E.P.’s, compilation and live albums, along with a high number of video/DVD releases. The band announced their retirement in 2013, performing their final concert in 2015 – and reform in 2019! Mötley Crüe confirming their return as a touring band only, with no plans for new material. But no need to be down hearted – for the bands old material, more specifically their first five albums, are being released as a limited edition boxed set – ‘Crücial Crüe: The Studio Albums 1981-1989’.

“1981-1989” was a time when Mötley Crüe were considered heavy metal – and while the band do have some leanings in that direction – they are for the most part a hard rock band. The eighties were the greatest decade for metal and rock evolution, when nearly all bands were placed under the banner of “heavy metal” – hell, even the likes of Def Leppard and Status Quo were considered metal during the early eighties! But it was the hard rocking, harder partying American metallers/rockers Mötley Crüe that were making the headlines with a brand of music that would go on to become known as “hair” metal/rock, later evolving into “sleaze” metal/rock. Bolder, bigger, and more “party anthem” in nature than its forerunner “glam” metal/rock ala bands such as T. Rex, Kiss, and the New York Dolls, Mötley Crüe paving the path for the likes of Cinderella, Ratt, and even the mighty Bon Jovi.

And it was during the eighties when the band were at their most prolific – releasing five albums in the eight years between 1981 and 1989…more than half the bands discography! In a forty year career! Incredible! There was the bands debut ‘Too Fast For Love’, followed by ‘Shout At The Devil’, ‘Theatre Of Pain’, ‘Girls, Girls, Girls’, and the Billboard number one charting ‘Dr. Feelgood’. Each of the five albums achieved platinum status – something the bands next four albums all failed to achieve! But it’s those first five albums that are “Crücial Crüe” for any fan, follower, or metal and rock fanatic!

And the ‘Crücial Crüe: The Studio Albums 1981-1989’ limited edition boxed set, will feature the bands first five albums on coloured vinyl, housed in a solid black slip case with foil imprint. The boxed set will also be released on CD – limited to ten thousand units!

Classic Mötley Crüe songs such as ‘Live Wire’, ‘Too Fast For Love’, ‘Looks That Kill’, ‘Shout At The Devil’, ‘Home Sweet Home’, ‘Smokin’ In The Boys Room’, ‘Wild Side’, ‘Girls, Girls, Girls’, ‘Don’t Go Away Mad (Just Go Away)’, and ‘Kickstart My Heart’ will live forever in the hearts and minds of fans and followers of all ages.

Mötley Crüe – like most pioneering and torch bearing bands – are more than just a band. They are an institution – and played a massive part in the evolution of metal and rock, primarily during the first decade of their career.

Overall, a superb five album boxed set chronicling the early days of the mighty Mötley Crüe.
