“You Will Never Be One of Us”

There is a sense of mystery at the moment regarding this band. NAILS having recently announced their European Tour back in April ’16, then releasing their latest album in June ’16, the band then, from out of nowhere in July, announced they had cancelled the tour and were on ‘hiatus’ until further notice. This has left a lot of fans extremely confused as to what the future holds for the band, and also disappointed in the possibility that they won’t be able to see them live this year, or possibly ever…….

However, as mentioned above, NAILS released their third studio album in June 2016. Along with their previous records, this one is no exception to their sound, in fact I think it’s probably heavier if that’s even possible.

Opening with the title track, it’s an immediate assault on your ear drums. Pounding relentless drums, dirty rotten guitar and bass, and the raw vocals over the top. It’s very much in it’s punk origin with short to the point songs, that last between 46 seconds and 1min30. Every song is just hard and powerful. With the exception of ‘Violence Is Forever’ at 3min27 and the final track ‘They Come Crawling Back’ which is an 8 minute marvel of hardcore and doomy as fuck heaviness.

It’s difficult to pick the tracks on this album apart one by one, as each one is as hardcore and volatile as the next, that even if you’re listening on your own it makes you want to participate in throwing your fists around and neck snapping head banging. I’m knackered just writing about it! NAILS have definitely managed to harness their sound on this album, it would be a massive shame not to tour it.

The lyrics are passionate, the music is fantastic. This album is a short sharp shock of bloody lipped angriness. It’s like they’ve taken hardcore, chewed it up with ten ghost chilli’s, produced it again from their derrières, put it in a blender then repeated. This isn’t for the feint of heart. This is angry. This is NAILS.
