Passion is a melodic rock band from the United Kingdom created by Night By Night’s vocalist Lion Ravarez. The idea of creating new music came from a collaboration he made with the former members of Night By Night, the result can be described as a combination 90’s classic hard rock with 80’s AOR. This debut album is titled homonymously and recruited musicians such as Weston James Jr. on bass and backing vocals, Chance Vanderlain on guitar and backing vocals, and Bobby Laker on drums.

Intensity is one of the most vibrant and energetic songs on this album. Lion Ravarez amazes in the vocal part by employing high notes in the chorus of the song that perfectly describes the passion and intensity in terms of visual attraction to the other person. On a musical level, it takes you back to the 80’s, whose sound shows some influences from glam metal and hard rock.

Trespass On Love is the promotional single for this album approaching melodic rock, evoking in our memory a sound that has some musical influences such as Def Leppard. It is a ballad full of feeling that is transmitted through the vocal part and that relates the problems that a couple’s relationship is going through.

The third song on this album is titled Too Bad For Baby whose chords remind us of the hard rock era where Lion Ravarez, Weston James Jr. and Chance Vanderlain who are the lead vocals and chorus respectively play more with the vocals bass while continuing to print that “passion” that describes them as a band. A song that describes moments of fun and lust characteristic aspect of the 80’s.

Lost In The Dark is a ballad of personal introspection. A song that indicates that there may be a light at the end of the tunnel and in which the bass chords take center stage, as well as the inclusion of guitar solos. Lion Ravarez shows a great variety of vocal ranges in this song making him a complete singer.

Back is a song that I would like to hear at a concert because in terms of composition it is a song that contains catchy lyrics whose chorus you want to sing at full volume and that characterizes melodic rock. On a musical level, it presents an interesting fusion between rock elements with some western chords. A different proposal to that presented in his previous songs.

Victim Of Desire has a heavier sound compared to previous songs and allows us to appreciate a greater presence of the choirs performed by Weston James Jr. and Chance Vanderlain where Lion Ravarez elevates his vocal range to another level by proving that he is a complete and versatile singer.

The festive atmosphere that was lived in the golden age of hard rock is present in We Do What We Want that takes up characteristic elements of melodic metal as a simple and rhythmic musical base as well as a simple and catchy chorus that reaffirms the intention of having fun and celebrating all night long.

The introduction to Built To Please shows influences from the rock of the 70’s and 80’s like Led Zeppelin and Aerosmith. With a simple and catchy lyrical musical structure, it describes the sexual revolution that took place in the 80’s and which continues with She Bites Hard in which it presents a sound with a marked influence on AC/DC and whose voice reminds us of Brian Johnson. Both songs perfectly describe the context that was lived in those years.

This album ends with Big Game and that presents a melody that concentrates the band’s musical proposal in instrumental and vocal terms. The lyrical part of this song takes us to the great casinos that existed at that time where you win or lose.

Passion has travelled through time in his debut album for the golden age of rock and roll that was synonymous with fun and lust, being perfectly described lyrically and musically. If you are one of the people who likes the musical style of bands like AC/DC, Def Leppard, Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, Krokus and  Gotthard you will love the musical proposal of this English band.
