Perpetual Etude are a heavy metal band from Sweden, formed in 2019 by Air Raid guitarist Magnus Mild. Inspired by the classic sound of eighties metal, Magnus has teamed up with members from Northtale, Dionysus, Nation, and Shadowquest for Perpetual Etude’s debut album ‘Now Is The Time’, released in 2021.

Featuring eight songs over a red hot thirty minutes, Perpetual Etude gallop, scurry, and whizz their way through blazing guitar riffs, keyboard solos, and catchy choruses. The half hour of power gets underway with the scorching hot ‘I’ve Got The Power’. Galloping furiously, ‘I’ve Got The Power’ is an energetic rampage, highly melodious and one hundred percent infectious, and sets the tone for what is to come…

…’Show Me’ maintaining the high energy level, but bringing to the mix a huge amount of AOR – yes, AOR! The classic sound of Journey, Kansas, and Boston is blended with Perpetual Etude’s root metal sound, making ‘Show Me’ one of those genre breaking type of songs. Fans from many styles of metal and rock will be interested in what the band has to offer. ‘Straight Through The Heart’ is a straight-up gallop of metal come rock, the infectious nature standing proud at one hundred percent. The melodic vocals are so clean you can clearly hear every word sung, helping you to sing along without even reading the lyrics! Picking up the pace, ‘Once We Were One’ gallops past, planting one foot on the monitor, and raising fists high in the air. The incredible energy level with which the album began remains very high, as ‘Hell Fire Burn’ scorches into life and proceeds to bang heads everywhere. The worldwide die hard head bangers are gonna drool over this one – ‘Hell Fire Burn’ a mosh pit favourite for sure.

The title song ‘Now Is The Time’ is a big riffing, bombastic barrage of melodic heavy metal. Head noddingly addictive, ‘Now Is The Time’ offers the albums most sing a long-able chorus – and one helluva crowd participation moment to boot! In concert, Perpetual Etude are onto a certain winner with this one. And with no let up in the energy levels, ‘Sail Away’ takes the hard rock road, crossing borders and attracting fans from varying rock styles. The band have shown their prowess in delivering heavy metal and hard rock that is both infectious and catchy, constantly straddling genre boundaries, bringing their music to a very wide audience. The final song ‘Our Love’, is melodic metal all the way. Well, maybe just a little hard rock tucked in there as well. And all too soon that’s the album finished – but never forget the replay button! ‘Cause you’ll be pressing it many times, that’s how addictive this album is.

Overall, an infectious and catchy album of heavy metal and hard rock, Perpetual Etude have served up a melodic treat that you’ll wanna savour time and time again.
