Purveyor Of Chaos are a heavy metal band from Canada that have been around since 2007, delivering hard rocking heavy metal with an almighty punch! The bands sound is power driven, full of grit and gusto – banging heads hard for over fifteen years! Purveyor Of Chaos have released two albums to date – ‘Full Give’ (2019) and ‘Purveyor Of Chaos’…

…emerging in 2023 with eleven brand new songs over fifty one incredibly heavy yet infectious minutes! The albums sound ranges from heavy metal to hard rock, with a sprinkling of thrash, power and speed metal to boot – there’s definitely something to be found here to please a very wide array of listeners! The album rockets into life with the pedal firmly pressed to the metal – ‘Four Point Harness’ a searing gallop of fast paced heavy metal to get the juices flowing and heads moving back and forth in a very quick motion! The die hard head bangers of the world instantly engaged, are immediately in tune with the band – a band that romps on with the just as quick but more bombastic ‘Bitter’. Adopting a more traditional feel, ‘Bitter’ plants one “foot on the monitor” and thunders hard with as much melodious intent as anything by the greats of metal, such as Iron Maiden, Manowar, and Saxon.

And after a fast and fairly furious opening double, the band slow the pace with the heavy hitting ‘Man Of The Cloth’ – and a doom heavy sound of legends Black Sabbath and Dio. The tension edged atmosphere is claustrophobic, the band doubling the speed across the chorus break but always returning to the slower pace afterwards! Delving into old school territory, Purveyor Of Chaos hit the accelerator and charge on with ‘Without A Master’ – the band once again planting their feet firmly on the monitor. And with a tad more aggression shown when the chorus crashes in, ‘Without A Master’ is gonna appeal to the thrashers of the world too! The variation and willingness to transcend genres is incredible, the band opening up their music to a very wide audience indeed. The self titled ‘Purveyor Of Chaos’ features a sparkling NWOBHM sounding guitar riff as it gets underway, assuming one of the heaviest foot stomps you can imagine – the feel of ‘Sabbath once more rising high in the air. It’s amazing to think that a sound from over three and a half thousand miles away and forty years ago is still the inspiration for so many bands – Purveyor Of Chaos included with their very British sounding self titled song.

Introducing a more hard rock flavour with a Southern rock edge, ’12 Pound Sledge’ even touches the blues as it strides forth with its head held high and a majesty not seen or heard previously – the band definitely punching outside their “metal” bubble! Yet ’12 Pound Sledge’ doesn’t stand out as not fitting in, the band maintaining a sharply defined metal edge. Cracking stuff from the Canadian outfit. And there’s that old school riffing once more – with added groove, ‘Burning Desire’ maintaining the previous songs meander of other musical styles to great effect. I mentioned earlier how wide the bands audience was gonna be – it’s even wider now! Purveyor Of Chaos reaching parts that many other bands don’t, makes for an addictive and engaging listen. Moving back into the more familiar territory of heavy metal, ‘Fake News’ pounds the ground hard as it slams listeners with a sweet groove and a subject matter that has been prevalent for a number of years now. But believe me when I say Purveyor Of Chaos with their self titled sophomore album, are one of the biggest surprises of the year – and that ain’t fake news!

And with an even sweeter groove leading to an anthemic feel, ‘Lies In My Head’ is a mid tempo mid paced head bang-able romp of exceptionally attractive quality. Reminiscent of American muscular metal, Purveyor Of Chaos continue their phenomenal prowl around every corner, nook and cranny of the heavy metal genre – the bands varied approach a definite USP! ‘Dead Men Don’t Tour’ once again moves the band in exploratory direction – the bold swagger of epic metal taking over the airways. But even though the band continue to tweak their sound, you can still tell it’s Purveyor Of Chaos behind the speakers. Bringing a pleasant surprise to an end, ‘Juggernaut’ is a final meander around and outside of the heavy metal genre – the band taking a scenic route from here to there and back again to please the ears one last time. Oh – and by the way, ‘Juggernaut’ is an instrumental.

Overall, an infectious and varied album of heavy metal, thoroughly enjoyable, head bang-able, and like-able.
