RAM
“ROD”
Album Review by Mike Hackenschmidt
8.5/10
Ram’s 5th full length album, Rod, pays homage to the classic Heavy Metal style while incorporating elements of speed and thrash. The back half of the Rod, or the B side of the LP if you’re into that, is a concept… ½ album… if you will. Ramrod the Destroyer parts 1 thru 6 are Heavy Metal magnum opus. Unfortunately I couldn’t find the lyrics anywhere and they’re hard to make out, for the most part. I think I hear “the bringer of doom” which would make sense given the title. No matter how you look at it, Ram is one of the first new millennium bands who stayed true to the old (true) style of metal. And that’s pretty fucking awesome.
